Origin of charges

Here I am going to tell a bout the fascinating story of charge.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF ELECTRICAL CHARGES

Two million years ago,Greeks noticed the amber(resin of a fossilized tree)

The amber was rubbed with animal fur.after rubbing with animal fur the amber attracted small pieces of leaves and dust.this property is known as “charge”. The ancient people believed that the amber had a special property.

Later people found that not only amber but even a glass rod rubbed with silk cloth,attracts a pieces of papers.so rod also becomes charged.

Benjamin Franklin conducted some experiments and said that one type of charge as positive and another type of charge as negative.

According to franklin,rubber and amber rods are negatively charged while the glass rod is positively charged.

This is how the charges were discovered by Benjamin Franklin.
